The organ at the Community of Taizé has a personality of its own, in tune with the functions and needs of the community, and although it is a smaller instrument, it is perfectly suitable for a wide range of musical activities, such as spiritual concerts or a pedagogical role in the training of organists, etc.
The specifications are well balanced and, since most of the stops can be used on both manuals at any one time, it makes optimal use of the limited space available. The voicing is warm and clear and, in a real sense, invites us to sing and reflect. Likewise, it is discreetly placed within the church; its sound underscores the organs basic philosophy which is: to serve as a support for community singing in this unique monastic setting.
