The exact historical background of the organ is unknown. The baroque organ case seems to be from the beginning of the18th century. At the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century, a new organ was installed by the Belgian organ builder Pierre Schyven who was one of the leading Belgian firms at that time and renowned for its quality.
The organ case has nice proportions; the original baroque carvings are well preserved. The case, console, wind chests and pneumatic key and stop action will be restored. The original Schyven pipework and its beautiful romantic voicing are in good shape.
The console is directly linked to the organ on the left side in its original lateral position.
Depending on where the organ is finally installed there can be general interest for a console in a lateral position:
The organist doesn’t have to sit with his back to the congregation and can easily follow the liturgy and see the choir director or even can conduct the choir himself.
Original beautiful carvings from the 18th. Century
Approximative exterior measurements:
Depth 10,5’
The total height is: 15,5’
The total width is: 15,3’
The organ is currently in Gerhard Grenzing’s workshop in Barcelona awaiting restoration and can be delivered to the USA, Canada or elsewhere else.
